While checking out the Rogue Trader board game teaser I saw this in the side bar… Personally I'd thought it had died, clearly it hasn't. link Not sure about the inclusion of the knights, but they look rather nice. A couple of Warlords and a Warhound would have made more sense to me. Though I can't help but find myself wondering how those knights will scale with my 15mm collection! |

1st Ed w/Epic Marines here too! |
Legion 4 | 12 May 2018 7:41 a.m. PST |
Started with Epic SM1 in '90 … I've got all the titans that I need or want … So … I won't be buying anything new. And I still have so much 6mm Sci-fi to worked on now as it is … |

There appear to be some fantastic Titan kits there… :) |
ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa | 12 May 2018 9:30 a.m. PST |
Yeah, cut my teeth on AT with my mates. And therefore have a real soft spot for the game. Can't say the later iterations of the rules did much for me. Hopefully the new rules won't be too over cooked. The record card looks fairly clean. Anyone care to speculate on how big those knights (and indeed the Warlords) actually are? |
NOLA Chris | 12 May 2018 9:31 a.m. PST |
Yay!! Loved the original Space Marine, and these look like they will scale great with all the old Epic minis I have! Good bye disposable income… :) |
ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa | 12 May 2018 9:33 a.m. PST |
@Legion …But, but, they're probably 'true Epic scale' titans… (Okay, yes the scaling on that game was truly elastic) |
The Beast Rampant | 12 May 2018 1:13 p.m. PST |
So, are they 1:144? And, is there a ballpark release date? |
Ivan DBA | 12 May 2018 2:42 p.m. PST |
Nothing wrong with including Knights! They were part of Adeptus Titanicus and Epic long before they were in 40k. This looks really cool. |
Legion 4 | 12 May 2018 4:05 p.m. PST |
@Legion …But, but, they're probably 'true Epic scale' titans… (Okay, yes the scaling on that game was truly elastic) Yes, the original titans were 1/500 scale vs. the rest of Epic was 1/300 i.e. 6mm … But like many thing with GW … they are "flexible" with their fluff, scales, etc. |
ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa | 13 May 2018 7:06 a.m. PST |
Though scale was an even more moveable feast when the fluff height started to fluctuate! IIRC the scale of these new ones is '8mm' so around 1:230'ish! So an 80ft warlord should be approximately 10cm. Don't know how big knights are supposed to be in the current fluff. |
Legion 4 | 13 May 2018 8:12 a.m. PST |
the fluff height started to fluctuate! It's down right Orwellian ! |
Achtung Minen | 13 May 2018 4:13 p.m. PST |
Looks like they will go nicely with my 3rd Edition Epic 40,000 army… probably a closer scale to 6mm troops too! |
gregmita2 | 13 May 2018 4:35 p.m. PST |
Very nice looking. The knights seem to be on 40mm bases, which does make them closer to 6mm scale than the original knights. |

I just bought the original Space Marine, Titan Legions and several boxes of the other armies for such for $200 USD, so I'm in on this. Although I might not need to buy much. I'm going to do Molech with it all. |
Legion 4 | 14 May 2018 7:41 a.m. PST |
original Space Marine, Space Marine 1 and AT/CT or Space Marine 2 ? Titan Legions came out with SM2 … And remember the original Titans in all the versions of Space Marine, AT/CT, SM2, Titan Legions, E40K and Epic Armageddon are 1/500 not 1/300, i.e. 6mm. The 8mm Titans will dwarf the 1/500. However, the 6mm Infantry, etc., is more to scale with 8mm Titans … Some chatter and pics here on one of the FB Epic Pages … link A picture is worth 1000 words or something like that …

I'm actually not sure how I feel about the larger minis, now that I think of it. One of the cool things about Epic (all versions) is that the really tiny miniatures made the tabletop seem like an enormous battlefield. With really big models for titans, this aspect gets sort of lost… (even IF the titans will now be closer to true scale). Just imagining two titans (each 6 inches tall) standing 24 inches apart on the table… I mean that is just the length of four titans. I think visually that would be a distraction for me from the grand scale feel of Epic. I'll have to wait and see. |
doublesix66 | 14 May 2018 2:57 p.m. PST |
Nice like legion I've got loads of the old epic stuff, it's looking like a lot larger than the old stuff seeing that last picture, I'd be interested in the buildings depending on there size/cost |

how I feel about the larger minis, now that I think of it. One of the cool things about Epic (all versions) is that the really tiny miniatures made the tabletop seem like an enormous battlefield. The "beauty" of 6mm [or even smaller scales], + or -, is that the ranges are a little more "realistic" per se. That has always been a problem with 40K, IMO … Among many others … Just imagining two titans (each 6 inches tall) standing 24 inches apart on the table… I mean that is just the length of four titans. I think visually that would be a distraction for me from the grand scale feel of Epic. Yep ! That was my same thought about 40K scale Titans used in 40K scale games. They could trip and fall almost as far as they can shot ! |
ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa | 14 May 2018 11:26 p.m. PST |
Yea gads, they are going to be big! I was wondering about flogging a Dreamforge Crusader that forms part of my 15mm lead mountain to assist in buying into this, but wondered if the warlords might fill the gap left. Now I think they will! Actually the warlord looks nearly as big as some of my 1:100 Bandai macros stuff. I'm easy about the size, possibly because it looks like I can use them in 15mm projects, though groundscale may get horribly tortured…. To be honest given the whole big battle fad the logical step always seemed to release a smaller scale version of 40K again where you could put loads of warmachines on the table without it looking like a ridiculous parking lot sprinkled with miniatures. I always thought they should go bigger rather than 6mm which clearly didn't work for them in terms of popularity the first time. At least half a dozen of us played AT routinely back in the day, but I was the only one in the group who played SM/Epic. Whether or not they've picked the right scale remains to be seen…. |
Legion 4 | 15 May 2018 6:16 a.m. PST |
Again, GW & FW are hard to second guess. Many should not be too surprised if they are disappointed. That has happened a number of times in the past. It's almost become a trend … For many the titans will be too big … for others they will be uncontrollably happy, etc. But I think we have to remember. IMO the New AT8mm is not made for us old AT,SM, Epic players. It's more for the "new kids" … So … |
kallman | 15 May 2018 10:02 a.m. PST |
Well I sold off all my Epic stuff decades ago so I am in with the new scale. |
alpha3six | 16 May 2018 3:45 a.m. PST |
Why would anyone who owns 6mm/15mm armies ever buy the same armies again in 10mm/20mm? But people do it anyway. It's the same here. I'm at peace with it now. |
Ex MAJIC Miniatures | 16 May 2018 5:28 a.m. PST |
My gut feeling is GW support for AT could die-off after a year or two, possibly leaving the support vehicles such as Baneblades Shadowswords and Leman Russ tanks unreleased, let alone the special stuff like variants. I concur with Legion4. If any gamers like myself still have their Epic armies they may end-up disappointed if they think they will be able to completely replace them with newer, shinier (albeit slightly bigger) models. I think I will resist the temptation to try to replace my Epic collection with the new AT. A dozen warlords, never mind Reavers, Warhounds and old skool knights is going to cost an eye-watering amount. However I will probably succumb to the new buildings, and FW game-boards which I think will be useful and welcome additions for Epic gamers. |
ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa | 16 May 2018 12:14 p.m. PST |
Unless its crazy popular I'm not expecting a full re-release of Epic or probably even Eldar or Ork Titans. Conceivable that FW might do spikey bits for Traitors, variant weapons and the odd fancy titan kit, but that will probably be it. Price is almost certainly going to kill it for me beyond the big starter with the extra stuff (assuming I can get it past the household expenditure auditor). Unless they do something seriously unexpected in terms of plastics and price points (and my local club pick it up) I'm out for infantry and vehicles…though thinking about it 8mm scale dreads and robots might make good 15mm man-sized bots. And frankly if I was going to re-visit my Epic collection I'd probably go with the likes of Vanguard and Onslaught and the available proxy Titans – may be with a new Warlord as an Emperor stand-in. Certainly some of the new 6mm stuff, in the style of, is streets ahead of many models GW produced for Epic. |

However I will probably succumb to the new buildings, and FW game-boards which I think will be useful and welcome additions for Epic gamers. IMO the new building are the best part. And they'd work fine for 6mm … My gut feeling is GW support for AT could die-off after a year or two, I has happened before at least a few times … I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again … and again … and … well you all get the idea …
Epic collection I'd probably go with the likes of Vanguard and Onslaught and the available proxy Titans – may be with a new Warlord as an Emperor stand-in. Certainly some of the new 6mm stuff, in the style of, is streets ahead of many models GW produced for Epic. Today with all new 6mm Sci-fi available. Who needs GW ? |
Edwulf | 16 May 2018 7:49 p.m. PST |
It in until they have tanks and infantry. |
Legion 4 | 17 May 2018 7:48 a.m. PST |
Buuut … those will be 8mm Not 6mm … So my comment should still hold true … And it still is very much up in the air about GW making anything other than Titans and Knights. But that may not/should not stop anyone from hoping. Or buying, but I won't be on those lists. All should just not be too upset if it does not happen. Based on GW's/FW's "checkered" past on such things. But hey … I could be wrong ! |
Edwulf | 17 May 2018 2:55 p.m. PST |
I'm watching. If they start doing tanks and infantry I'll be all in. I have 0 interest in giant robots though. |
Legion 4 | 18 May 2018 3:11 p.m. PST |
I'm not really a "giant robot" fan … even if I have a number in my 6mm Sci-fi forces. So I certainly understand … |
