I've been playing some Cold War skirmish games recently and having great fun with them. I needed some Soviet officers for this and Matt from Elheim very kindly obliged. You can see some pictures here. link They are lovely sculpts and painted up rather well, if I say so myself. |

"Al ist clar Herr Kommissar !" … Nicely done ! |

I appreciate the pop culture reference and all, but still… Maybe better to be ready on game day with an enthusastic: "Точно так товарищ комиссар!" (ie: phonetically: "Toechno tak toavarish comissahr") (ie: "Exactly so Comrade Commissar!") Which, in my admittedly limited exposure to Soviet military methods, would have been the most acceptable response. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

My Russian is very rusty … And I kind'a like that old song … And something similar from that era "99 Red Balloons"/99 Luftbaloons. I think it is called. Plus Sting's "Russians" … My old Cold War Warrior/age is showing … |

It reminds me a bit of this old poster. Gotta love the propaganda. Of course our brave comrade, under the headline "Military Commissar – Father and Soul of his Party" is carrying and displaying his copy of "TRUTH" (Pravda) as he waves the boys forward. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) (Caveats apply: I claim no expertise in Russian -- my reading is fully self-taught with no skilled guidance.) |
