"Approval for the new Lost In Space series was largely reported in the positive. The Musings Of A Sci-Fi Fanatic final analysis remains in the making. Of the few criticisms I've read some complained the Robinsons were too often in peril. That's an odd criticism for a family lost in space. How is this new series different than the original series in that way…" Main page scifimusings.blogspot.com.ar Amicalement Armand

Ive been watching it this week and I really enjoy it. I like the cast, the characters, the planet often looks alien though there are a few logic issues (they mention the temp is 60 degrees below zero yet it starts raining?), but overall I would recommend it to sci fi fans. |

Much better that the original or the movie remake. Don't let the title scare you away. |

I couldn't even finish episode one. I am tired of "the dad is an idiot, the mom is always right, and dad is terrible because the Marines sent him off somewhere" cliches. From the limited amount I saw it WAS better than the movie. |

I really like this too. Saw first 3 episodes so far. |

I am positive and yet on the fence about it. I am tired of "the dad is an idiot, the mom is always right, and dad is terrible because the Marines sent him off somewhere" cliches. The "Women are awesome" and "Men suck because they are Men" themes gets very annoying. Will has to be weak otherwise Dr. Smith can't manipulate him. That is a given. I can understand the hate towards Mr. Robinson in the beginning, and it does improve as the show goes on. I hope it is done with in the new season. but making Don West a self serving Han Solo type, the "stupid decision making" Governor even though he was completely correct in what he was ordering in a certain episode, and the "Only thinks of his family first" love interest. You only have the one Scientist guy who gets his entire family involved (which are also ALL WOMEN, BTW) as your positive Male role model character. |

I watched it and liked it. Hope for season 2! I agree that I am tired of the anti-man thing in many of these shows, but he got much better as the series went by. I liked the fact that there were other people there than just the Robinson family. Not sure if season 2 will keep that though. |

>I agree that I am tired of the anti-man thing in many of these shows, Check your privilege. Hating men is no more sexist than hating white people is racist. That is just science. |

I also got a laugh out of the "gun free zone" for the colony. I guess they determined humans were the only life in the universe and there was no need for any protection. |

Lol. Seriously? They did that? Hilarious. I guess none of people of that time have ever watched an alien flick. Maybe the show is not for me after all. I'm looking for escapism, and not some brand new source for the same "progressive" ideology lessons/sermons I get everywhere else. Dan PS. Now I can't seem to get out of my head the scenes in Unforgiven (1992), of Little Bill beating the crap out of disarmed visitors to the frontier town of Big Whiskey. |

Watched several episodes, interesting take on the old series. Reversing Doc Smith (and making not a real Doc) interesting vibe. Making Ms. Robinson smart and natural leader also interesting take. (Please not potential screenwriters that not all men are feel instantly threatened when strong women characters appear on screen.) Mysterious robot an interesting plot point. Even a bit of character growth. TttomT |

With me it's not the gender threat issue, as some have tried to imply on other threads*. My issue is more a chain of command issue. From the old series and the film, I was always under the impression the father was in command. Then again I didn't continue watching the new series to discover anything that would have told me something different. Or maybe that change should have been established early on? Dan * These days some people tend to rush to that conclusion whenever someone makes any observation about character and role changes in remakes. |
