I use an old ViviCam 4345, and process the pictures on GIMP.

Not brilliant, but sufficient for me!

I bought my LG5 phone because it had one of the best cameras on the phone market.

I started using a Nikon 5600. I'm retiring next year and bought it to take bunches of photos with my free time. It's a very forgiving camera for noobs like me.

Cannon D7 digital SLR, it's the wife's camera she's the photo enthusiast.
I simply borrow it, and the 50mm lens.

For my blog, "One of My Men Became Restless" flashman14.blogspot.com, I've been using a Nikon, an old digital camera. But today I tried my Android Galaxy and I think I might prefer it.

Wish there was an easier way to get it to my computer though for Picasa cropping/editing. I had to email myself the ones in this entry.

My iPhone 6plus. Better than the digital camera I bought before it.

I think that my iPhone 6 takes better pictures than my older Nikon Cool Pix, so I tend not to bring the Nikon to games and conventions much.

Cellphone camera, but only because it's easier to email and upload to the blog that way.

Digital Nikon CoolPix L340. It's very simple, and uses four AA batteries. So if I run out of juice in the field it's easy to power up again. The internal memory is also huge so I don't fill it up when I am out taking pictures.

I use a phone camera because it is convenient and produces acceptable images, like this one of my next painting project of 28mm Napoleonic Badeners from Murawski, flags from GMB:

I wrote an article on megapixels and camera choices a while back.

The best camera is one you will carry and use, and for most people that will be their smart phone.

Myself, I love my micro four thirds Olympus OMD EM5-MII. It has 16 megapixels, a hi-res mode of 40 megapixels, and to put that into perspective a tiff file comes out as either 40mb or 196mb; so big pictures from a little camera.

Ultimately what you want is the biggest picture you can take because it grants you the flexibility of cropping a nice composition for publication.

T&CA, E&OE, your photographs will not necessary be better for having a better camera, it's still possible to take crap pictures with a good camera.

Phone camera – 2MP, f/2.8, 1.75um pixel size

Walking Sailor08 May 2018 2:58 p.m. PST

FUJIFILM FinePix S5700 that I bought for work, back when flip phones didn't take really good pictures. It has all the adjustments of my old 35 SLR and still takes better pictures than my current flip phone. On which I talk to people.
It still takes better pictures than my tablet, which is why I haven't bothered to learn to adjust that.
