With registration due to open in a few days I'm wondering if anyone knows if there will be a 1 game/day pre-registration limit for attendees or will it be something else? Last time I attended, 2015(?) it was single game limits but not sure if that's changed.

Take all this with the caveat that I've not been privy to conversations about the policies in place for Events of Historicon 2018, so whatever I say is based on past practice and observation.

Up to and including Cold Wars 2018 it was one game per day at the time of preregistering and then one more game per day at the Events table. Your preregistered games were printed on your badge, and there were tickets to pick up for the additional daily game once you got to the con. The one-game-per-day-per-attendee policy was an attempt at giving everyone a chance to get into some of the games of their choice.

We have also lately had the practice of putting out all unclaimed tickets during each hour for the games beginning at at the end of that hour. This is an effort to fill up attendance at games. These tickets are "free" -- over and above the one-ticket limit per day.

Thanks Grumble. I assume it will still be like that so I'll down-select to my one-a-day before registration opens. :)

Looking forward to assisting you at the Events desk each day with your second ticket -- and maybe a freebie or two as well. grin

Any word on registration?

Ploogak18 May 2018 2:49 p.m. PST

Registration is now live. Also this year attendees that register before the show will be able to pick two events per day (one early 9am-2pm and one late 3pm-9pm). You'll find the link under "Calendar" on the right side of the page or you can go to our registration page at hmgs.org/page/HCReg

Thanks and we look forward to seeing everyone at the show,
Joby

Anyone know how to register online for tournaments? I don't see any listed in the morning and afternoon event lists and there is no specific Tournament section, from what I can tell.

For the Bolt Action tournament you just send an email to the organizer, unsure about the others however.

RobSmith21 May 2018 8:27 a.m. PST

OK. That seems to be the standard.

holien21 May 2018 9:11 a.m. PST

Great that you can pre register for a morning and afternoon game, excellent enhancement imo. Pity I was too slow off the mark for the double blind ACW game. I will have to swing by to see it action..

Ploogak21 May 2018 1:15 p.m. PST

Rob, the tournament section is up and running in the reg system. In the past people just sent an email to the organizer but we're asking people to sign up online during pre-reg. We need a better idea of attendance because of the spacing issues this year. You still may need to contact the GMs and any entrance fee will be paid to the GMs at the show like in the past. Tournament purchases will not count against your 2 event per day limit. The full tournament descriptions along with any specific instructions are on the events page of the website. link

Thanks,
Joby

I keep getting errors when I try to checkout. It says it can't process the registration and to try again. Then I get a server error.

Anyone else having issues?

Just a reminder that pre-registration is still open but is scheduled to close on June 20.

Please see the links above for details.

Hope to see you there.

What is happening to HMGS East/Historicon Website? Was going to register for Historicon but am member of HMGS Midwest so had to send an Email in and got my login restored. Tried to go online on Saturday (9/16/2018) and the website is offline. Have tried since then HMGS East and Historicon and website is still offline.

Ploogak19 Jun 2018 7:36 p.m. PST

The website was down for awhile. It's up now. If you're still getting an error message try clearing your cache or using a different browser. YM recommends using Chrome. We'll be sending out a mass email about it shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
Joby

I find it amusing that an organization that embraces history can't keep the dates straight on their website.

Can I submit my Cold Wars 2019 events yet?
