I've been playing Avalon Hill's 'Richthofen's War' since the late 70's in its original form and converted to miniatures. One thing that always bothered me was how drab and boring the counters appeared when placed on the colorful, outstanding mapboard. While searching for game parts on Ebay I came across Upton Games: an Ebay store based out of Canada selling replacement counters and accessories for a wide variety of games. I ordered their 'Richthofen's War' replacement set: shipping was reasonable, fast and the package was well protected. The counters are in register, very colorful and completely transform the game experience. They are mounted on thicker cardboard than the originals which makes movement easier. They are slightly smaller than the originals but the aircraft profiles have been increased in size by 50%. Based on that thickness these do not fall out of the tree nor can they be snapped out. I used an X-Acto with a new #11 blade and carefully cut them out and then trimmed them. Highly recommended! Ebay Store Link:

Allied planes are STILL drab and boring. They lack the famous Teutonic whimsy of the Hun. |

True – but they are 'slightly' more colorful now! LOL! |

We played RW until many of the counters were unrecognizable, loved that game! I've moved on to 1/72 scale models, using Canvas Eagles, which is quite similar. |

Happy memories from my days in the Liverpool University War games Club back in the late 70s. The only air combat game I could get the hang of, but then again I was the only actual pilot in the club. A great game. |

Very nice…my only complaint is the font choice, but that is a minor quibble. |
