I gave Dave's Brown rules another run through in this report and I'd have to say I like them. link |

This is one of the finest battle reports I have seen and read. Good pictures, great illustrations and an easily understood narrative. Thank you and well done. And yes, I also like these rules. |

I agree with all the above. Many thanks, and have fun. |

Sheesh. That's what I call a battle report! What software are you using to make those awesome maps? |

We did a playtest with Longstreet's attack on the 2nd day of Gettysburg which went well, but there were some concerns from some of the group. The command system worked out great, but the casualty system was a bit fiddly at times and it was a different feel from other ACW rules we've tried. There's a four page battle report with lots of images at the end of this issue: PDF link |

Thanks guys. Axabrax I hand drew the maps with a wacom tablet and pen using an art program call sketch book pro. Asgiscg47- I didn't find the casualty system fiddly maybe because I've played a bit of General d amree before and made dice holders to help record hits. That said I pretty agree with all your other thoughts on the system |

The maps are indeed well done. The guy who set up our game used dice holders too, which is a good idea. I think the issue was that with 15mm the dice may have been too small! |

That is a pretty excellent AAR. Though those are some HUGE brigades for a PC game. I think the max regiments is supposed to be 6 per brigade. I like PC but I feel that something in the charge combat is incomplete. It probably could of used some more examples. |

Max is 10 which I did field for some units (mainly because I lacked command stands)but, wouldn't do again. Won't go bigger than 8 next time. |

Totally agree with the previous comments about the quality of that AAR, and your terrain and figures !! I game in the same club as DB and we don't usually play with more than 5 or 6 regiments per brigade. Your battles may vary. @Aegis – also very nice battle report in your pdf magazine. The casualty system is designed to be super simple so I think you may have done something wrong. What did you find fiddly? The charge is intended to reflect the fact that things rarely reached the point of a prolonged melee. Typically either the chargers didn't make it – or the defenders didn't stand. Occasionally they engaged in a longer melee but that was the exception rather than the rule. One other thing that helps speed up PC gameplay is the lack of a separate morale phase as the morale events are dealt with immediately when they are triggered by the casualty table. |

Woops I miss read Stewart's post. Only 1 brigade had 7 regiments the rest were 6 or smaller |
Fried Flintstone | 04 May 2018 6:20 a.m. PST |
For bases per regiment – 5 would be normal. 6 would be large and 4 would be small. 8 would be HUGE! |

I love your web site. I found it when looking for examples on how to base ancients for Impetus. One of the best sites I have come across. |
