I prefer a Satin finish, somewhere in between a gloss and flat finish. Any suggestions for the best product to get the job done?

Thanks,

Fred

Any of the ones I buy to try to achieve a matt finish should do the job ;-)

Seriously, the problem is normally avoiding a satin finish when using brush-on matt varnish. I've had satin finish from standard Humbrol acrylic, Windsorr and Newton soluble (solvent based) and Rowney Acrylic matt varnishes and had to go through the elaborate and slightly risky process of decanting off (and sometimes adding back in) the gloss carrier medium to get the right concentration level for a matt finish, without getting the dreaded white patches.

I seldom use satin as I prefer matt, but by mistake once I bought a tin of AP Satin spray. It certainly gives a finish that is not matt but not shiny either.

A Satin Varnish from a DIY store will do the job nicely.
And one can lasts years.

I've used Minwax Polyurethane, clear satin for years. Never a problem. Stocked at Ace Hardware.

Krylon has a clear satin spray.
