Do you follow the eternal precepts of the Art of War, as Zapp Brannigan would have written them (if he could write them)?

I expect my little guys to die over and over at my command

when I first started playing I tried not to lose too many guys and all it did was lose the game for me so now it's if you're gonna die, die with your boots on attitude for me

This is why I will laugh in the face of anyone who says that gaming is about warmongering. The ONLY thing that is hurt is my wallet.

@Skinkmasterreturns: "This is why I will laugh in the face of anyone who says that gaming is about warmongering."
Well said! I couldn't have expressed it any better.

@Dave Jackson, so I guess you also lead your charges like Zapp Brannigan leads his?

Very, very true … evil grin

Not usually. The object our games is typically to complete an objective, rather than destroy the enemy in detail, so suicidal bum-rushes don't work quite so well. Sometimes, the objective is impossible with the numbers and type of troops I have, so the game turns into a Gothic Serpent-esque disaster where the objective is to get my surviving plastic or metal dudes safely out of the combat zone.

This is especially true when playing linked games, even informally. It doesn't work too well to lose half your force by playing chicken with a gunship.

How about Lord Flashheart?

Well, I have played DOOP forces under Brannigan's command, so … sometimes.

I will if it is appropriate for the force I am commanding. There are a number of modern warlords and criminal groups that don't seem to know what they are doing and don't care how many bodies it takes to do it.

However, in general, the victory conditions for the games I play generally do not reward being careless with troops' lives.

Zapp Brannigan: How many men did we lose, Kif?
Kif: All of them, sir.
Zapp: Well, at least they won't have to mourn each other.

Sounds like my Romans.
