I realise that the 1914 Rules from Great Escape Games have only just been released but they have piqued my interest in WW 1 and wondered if anyone is able to provide more information about them. I'm especially interested in how the command tokens work.
Thanks.

I received my copy today after ordering them last Friday. I haven't had chance to play a game yet as my Kallistra WW1 armies haven't arrived yet, but from what I have read so far I am very impressed. On the Great Escape Games website there are PDF examples of the rules, one of which covers the command and control aspects of the game.

Basically you get tokens for each General, infantry battalion, cavalry regiment and gun battery which you allocate to your troops to activate them into action.

Overall there are plenty of good things to say about these rules including fast & easy to play, national characteristics, easy to generate armies/lists and scenarios to play.

Only downside so far that I can see is that you have to use d10's for firing, but even for someone as stuck on d6's as me that is a truly minor point and certainly not off putting in any way whatsoever.

Thanks for that. I've purchased a copy and am very pleased after a first read through. Really not a fan of IGOUGO systems so the to and fro of initiative in the game looks my cup of tea! Looking forward to playing soon. Thanks again.
