Looking at some 40mm figures and thought to myself that I might want to find a decent skirmish rules set as the 40mm range is limited in its selection and I'd need a table the size of a football pitch to play large games Any recommendations? |

+1 Flashman14 TMWWBK is a simple game but is loads of fun and plays fast. It's out of the "Lion Rampant" stable of games that essentially use all the same mechanics but with tweaks for each period being played. For a light and breezy game, our club likes them. |

I am doing Rorkes Drift in 40MM. Have finished painting all the lads. Still working on the Zulu. I have to admit I never enjoyed painting Zulu figures until I started these Zulu. My figures are individually based, have not decided on rules yet either. |

I am planning to update my 50 year old Zulu War set-up some time during the next year. I am thinking of using Victoria's Battles – Book Two (The Zulu War). I bought an online PDF, which was very cheap. link It looks as though these will work for both skirmish games and larger ones, and can use any figure scale or figure ratio. Rod |

Just curious: are you using the Sash & Saber figures? Sounds like a fun project! |

Mine are all Sash and Saber. The Zulu have separate torso and bottom. So you can come up with a lot of different pose variations. Although more "work" involved than the Brits, which just have separate heads, I am enjoying the results. |

Sash and Saber are the ones I was looking at. Very reasonably priced. And 40mm is big enough that I can still see to paint them =) |

The Sword and The Flame should work just fine. |

Another vote for TMWWBK – the core British force only needs about 36 redcoats and 8 Cavalry Figures, ranged against 100-120 Zulus IIRC. |

If you could find a copy of WRG's Fire and Steel they would suit your needs. They aren't written in Barkerese! |

If you want a more "Wellsian" look, try Howard Whitehouse's A gentleman's War (not published yet, but getting there: link |

I second TMWWBK for skirmish, but I am going to try Impondo Zankhomo, The Horns of The Bull, available from link for larger battles. You can play Isandlwana with the same number of figures Basha Felika mentions in his post, plus one British field piece. |

I forgot to mention that I game in 54mm. |
