From what I have read so far, In three bn. inf. reg'ts Russian pom poms were white for the 1st (grenadier) bn., yellow for the 2nd (musketeer)bn., red for the 3rd bn., also musketeers. Each reg't had a pom pom centre colour. So the Yaroslavlskiy polk would have turquoise centres to their pom poms. What I am trying to figure out is, did the shako tufts for the Musketeer bns. follow the pom pom colour? So the Yaroslavlskiy polk would have yellow tufts with a turquoise centre in the 2nd bn., and the 3rd bn. would have red tufts with a turquoise centre. Have I got that straight? Thanks. |

I'm not painting any Russians anytime soon but it's good to know the info is out there. Amazing the little details that we want to get correct when painting our tiny soldiers. |

Link never stopped working, of course if you leave it up 24/7 it will kick you off untill you go back. Speaking of which The distinctive round hat, with cylindrical crown and front and rear visors, was only provided to the 1st, 4th, 7th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 18th, and 19th Jaegers, at the beginning of 1803. It was replaced by the same cloth and straw shako used by the Musketeers, OH NO! |

The jager's hat looks, that with judicious triming, it will look like a shako. Good thing I hadn't started any jagers yet. |

I eventualy will have to do the 6th and the 8th neither got the "top" hats. Oh well. BTW would anyone know if the standard bearers were dressed as junior officers or senior NCOs? |
Greystreak | 26 Apr 2018 4:06 p.m. PST |
Standard bearers were senior NCO's. |

Major Bloodnok what are your goals of Russian units to fill? |

Right now i'm looking Yaroslavl, Narva, Podolia Musketeer reg'ts and the Little Russia Grenadier reg't. 6th & 8th Jaegers though I might change one to one of the units that wore the hat rather than the shako. A reg't each of dragoons, hussars, cuirassier and of course cossacks. |

I'm working on 1st Western army of Borodino and actually going to change my wrong uniform jagers to correct ones. Tossing units into the stripper is getting easier, in for a penny in for a pound. |

I have it on good authority that the Yaroslavl had turquoise pompons only through 1804. Then the Dniester Inspection changed facings from purple to d.green with red piping, and was reorganized so that the Yaroslavl would then have yellow pompons. |
