Go here -

- to witness the effect of a 12-pounder Napoleon firing shell against an M113 range target (hint – I would NOT want to be in that M113).

Outstanding video.

That was what I imagine it would be like. Awesome video.

Correction, 12 pdr Napoleon vs. the remains of a M113 that has been used as a target vehicle.

Cool

Not an M113, its an M114. Some of the shots are not from a Napoleon and to be honest I'm not sure that I see any substantial damage inflicted on the target.

The second gun was a 12# Howitzer. They are firing a modern explosive projectile and not solid shot, shrapnel, or cannister which would have been histoically correct.

Another point is how inaccurate the guns are firing from a prepared position at a static target. You almost get the impression the hits were scored more from luck than competency of the gun crew.

A 12pdr Napoleon firing even a solid ball at a modern APC is going to rock it even if not penetrating it. Would guess a 3" rifle would have a better chance of penetration. Looked like a lot of shots with time outs between I thought.
