I've look around and have seen them in khaki, dark green, and a mix of the two. Some of the photographs for 1879 show them in dark uniform with very light puttee.

What did you do?

I did mine in khaki with green hats. There were that many different battalions in various locations, it could take years to get everyone in new kit. Even then local commanders and conditions often dictated what was worn. So you'll not be wrong whatever you decide.

Mine are in green.

Dark green. That is what Billy Fish wore in "The Men Who would Be Kings."

Dark green. There are plenty of Brits in khaki already.

I am sure it is just a misspelling but it was hard to not make a comment on the coLOINial thing.

Thanks for all the input. Looks like I have dark green in my future.

Good choice!

I did 3 TSATF units of Old Glory ones 25 or so years ago, one dark green, one khaki, one khaki tunics with green pants, just to cover all the bases.

According to Robson in Road to Kabul, they 'appear to have worn their Rifle Green uniforms in Winter, changing to Khaki as the War progressed'
