I know I sometimes let nostalgia get in the way, but in this day of finely crafted miniature masterpieces, there is something about seeing Airfix cuirasses painted green as dragoon's. that is how it was "in the day" and it just makes me smile to see them being used and giving pleasure even now.

Lovely stuff

Good find Armand

I agree with Marc. I love this stuff! Last year I bought 1000 painted Airfix figs for the later 19th Century. I love them! This is great!
thumbs up
Thanks,

Indeed; in these days of carefully crafted 'Fabergé eggs' it just shows that en masse, minute detail becomes irrelevant. It's the effect that counts. Get more on the table faster!

+1 Cameronian – my point exactly.

I am a 1/72 fan, and love the work of Francesco at Franznap. But sometimes it is good to be reminded that the look of the thing counts as well, en masse.

A useful reminder methinks

Marc,

I couldn't agree more, and those conversions are immediately recognizable by those of us who have performed them! I had two such "dragoon" units in the 1970s, plus a unit of Russian Dragoons and some British Household Cavalry made from those figures. There was nothing else. Most other cavalry was converted from Airfix US Cavalry figures, with shakos, pelisses et al made from modeling clay. Great times.

Agreed, although don't get me wrong – I wouldn't want to give up the current golden age of plastic soldiers – Zvezda especially, but most makes have something good to offer (even Strelets – their latest Naps are very nice indeed, and am waiting to see if they turn their attention to cavalry)
