Wife and I are visiting Toronto and was wondering if there are any good shops to visit. Even comic/game shops but prefer miniature shops!

Thanks

Meeplemart is my favorite these days. Primarily a board game store but loads and loads and loads of miniatures.
meeplemart.

Most are board game centric around here. Downtown (Yonge st) is 401 games, one of MY favorites. They also have another store further north on Hwy 7 but the downtown location is more….interesting. Also on Yonge but just south of Steeles, so the north end of TO is Hairy Tarantula. In an odd basement location so not so easy to find but an interesting mix. For comics I used to like the Beguiling which had to relocate when the Honest Ed's store was sold. I drove by it but can't remember which street it is on now. Also for board games is Legends just off the 400 and south of Langstaff. Never been there though. If you like an interesting SF book store you could check out Bakka Phoenix. A shadow of its former glory but still a very nice "real books" store.

Other than Legends I have been to all the above plus Meeplemart. It is located in the heart of Chinatown on Spadina once again in a little hard to find basement location.

Hope this helps.

Stephen

Wheels and Wings on the Danforth is a superb hobby store, but for plastics and kits, not for miniatures. If you are into 1/72, this store is amazing. Good people running it too.

I'm a Toronto-native and just took up the miniatures hobby a year ago. Sadly, there seems to be a dearth of shops here to support the hobby. Meeplemart and Wheels and Wings are both good. Happened to be in Orangeville an hour north of Toronto over the Easter weekend and discovered 'The Gauntlet Comics & Games' which impressed me with its size and selection. gauntletcomics.com No historical minis though, which is my thing. Word at the wargame club is that everyone buys online these days…

What ever happened to Crossed Swords on Annette, which used to carry Essex, JR Miniatures, GHQ, and many others?

@Fred Mills: I believe that Dan, the owner, passed the collectibles part of the business on to his son, but still brings what is left of his stock to various gaming conventions.

Wrt Crossed Swords, I see Dan at CANGAMES in Ottawa each year, but I'm not sure if he still has a shop.

Thanks gents for the Crossed Swords info. I visited often in the '80s when living there.
