I have read this. It is quite entertaining but stretches its history quite a bit.

"Quite a bit?" More like a complete fabrication. The author was an amazing example of a John Bull flag-waving cheerleader who fancied her prose to be literary and her view of the Napoleonic world impeccable. And she would attack anyone who dared to criticize that view or her books. I used to love provoking her into some historic meltdowns, pun intended.

Indeed! Right up there with the "Britain stands alone" nonsense.

Bennetts wrote another potboiler, "Of Honest Fame," which is equally awful.
