The film plays a few times this month on Starz Retro Channel. I had never heard of it until now but seems to center around a Soviet defector getting out of Russia while on vacation with his family.

A) Worth watching at all?

B) Could it at least help inspire any fun cat and mouse spy games?

It's Hitchcock, so of course it's worth watching, Dan! I think "yes" for inspiring spy games as well.

Hitchcock is always entertaining and suspenseful. Bet you could get a pulp style game out of it.

Highly recommended movie, never gets enough credit for being a very good flick!

It's a great movie. I think it's better for a role-playing game than a miniatures game.

Good movie but you have to pay attention, no cutting troops off the sprue while you watch it.

Maybe good for a spy role playing game, but not enough shooting really for that.

I was at first reminded of the film Topkapi when I saw the title thread. It could work just as well.

Most spy movies aren't good for even 7TV or Infinity games, they're straight up roleplaying material.

And not only espionage also much jungle warfare, naval warfare, indeed all too much of modern war. From the ambush of the French GM100 in 1954 to Savo Island to Aldrich Ames or Oleg Penkovsky. the hidden stuff is all important and this vital element is lacking in all miniatures games and most RPGs. The "strange ships" of Savo or the movement of the Vierminh, almost betrayed by the movement of the long grass or the protection of Ames by an arrogant CIA superior cannot be done with
miniatures or a RPG unless umpied, and yet this is insufficient for sitiations of extreme ignorance such as say many of the characters or situations in most ant Forsyth or G M Fraser or Clancy novel or indeed the events described by Keegan or S L A Marxhall
After all we all knew that TF Smith would fail and the Chinese would not inrevene in Korea
