Just looking to add rifles to my Napolenics. I've gone for Front Rank for the majority of figures but noticed the Warlord Games Chosen men box and quite like the action poses. Does anyone know if these would be compatible with Front Rank? I've read they are quite large but haven't seen any side by side comparisons. |

These will be in skirmish mode I imagine, not in line? If the former it does allow far more mix and match. Front Rank are no taller than most 28mm ranges, they are just much beefier in the thorax and the limbs. Great castings and sculpting quality though. Sorry, does not really answer your question though. |

Perry. No Sharpe or Harper or other series characters though. |

I did consider Perry but I think they are a little to slender alongside Front Rank and the last figures I got were so badly cast I felt I was sculpting them myself. |

Oh I've also looked at Offensive Miniatures, Eagle, Foundry etc. all a tad too small. |

An old Irish joke, when a chap asks for directions. "Certainly surr, but I was you, sure I wouldn't be starting from here" You have found that Offensive, Eagle, Foundry, Perry (let me add Brigade games Miniatures to that list) would all prove too small. Isn't that telling you summat? It is not that everyone else is too small, it is that etc……… Funny, everyone is talking about Perry casting these days. Are the moulds wearing out? Always set the standard for others to follow in terms of sculpting, modelling, posing etc….but there is that need for the file and scalpel before starting on them. |

Brigade Games has excellent 95th Rifles including the Sharpe personality figures. Have some myself. |

Yes I know FR are on the large size but I've got hundreds of them so it's a bit of a standard for me. Mind you the new reinforcement packs are more slender hence I was hoping the Warlord would be Ok. Really like the Brigade games miniatures too. I've ordered from them in the past (WW1 French and was very impressed with the figures). Sod it I think I'll order a box of the Warlord I've seen some on ebay 10% off and no postage. Thanks for the replies. |

But do let us know how you get on. A photo or two would be brilliant, as a comparison. I am sure that Warlord, at their best, could be great, it is just sometimes their research is careless. Their LHS range looks excellent though |

OK will do. Looking at them again I think one of the things I like is the lack of packs. Just reading the Mark Urban book on the Rifles and the picking up of French packs to replace their own. I can see a bit of kit bashing and small vignettes especially with the Plunkett type figure |

There are a couple of pictures here which may be useful… link The Front Rank figure is a 'reinforcement' figure but should still give an idea of relative sizes! |

Funny thing….the deliberate lack of packs in skirmishing figures does make them look much smaller. They are not in practice. I used some to fill out a firing line of the 52nd and, to fit in, I added Perry plastic packs to several. They stand next to Perry plastic and metal Light Infantry just fine! |

Love Front Rank . Some of the others do not have the same standard of casting they have. Found that Perry needs a lot of cleanup with flash, Brigade games way to slender, and any plastics…. well they just don't cut it IMHO. |

Thanks all. I will pass the good words to Paul. |

A bit of an update. I ordered the Warlord Games figures and I'd a say they fit in very well with the newer Front Rank British and also with Calpe (I'm painting some Prussians at the same time). Casting was good with a couple of connecting sprues and very small mould lines so cleaning up was quick and easy. They are currently on the painting table so I'll try and get some comparison photos done later. |

I can imagine Warlord Figures would work just fine and was very tempted by much of their LHS series range, but have not yet succumbed….. I do love to see photos of comparisons as they are few and far between. Please do! |

Right not sure if this is going to work. I've just signed up for a Flickr account so bear with me. First one of Warlord 95th and Front Rank British (Reinforcement pack)
Front Rank old French, Calpe Landwehr, Warlord 95th and Front Rank British (Reinforcement pack)
Warlord 95th and Front Rank British (Reinforcement pack) Note the 95th is crouching slightly so looks shorter but the proportions match.
Just the Warlord on their own, showing the individual figures off.

How did I miss this last posting? (let us blame a family holiday in Tuscany and then last week in Catalonia) SSRD's message is just what I keep seeking and this is so well done. Belatedly, brilliant and thanks |
