Same reason why Kaspersky anti-virus software is too risky? |

The article doesn't mention military systems. It is talking about kit like domestic routers in people's homes that have been supplied by their telecoms company. |

Cerdic: "The article doesn't mention military systems." That's why I'm asking. Some things should not be outsourced. Power grids, banking networks, military, etc. Dan |

You know, that's the funny thing about the internet. It's fully capable of still sending messages around even with large parts of it not working (as long as there is ONE functional connection route to any point, it will work). Almost like it was designed to still work when someone is busy nuking the country… |

Didn't Atlanta just come out of a ransomware attack? It sounds like the normal "save money no matter what is at risk" idea. Maybe not related: the family that found out someone got into their wifi baby monitor and was talking to their kid and moving the camera around. Like Jurassic Park, nobody's asking if we should. |

That is why I will never buy a coffe pot made before 1980. Them Commie bastards wants to pollute our precious bodily fluids! |

Before 1980? Are you kidding me? It's all the newer stuff you gotta really watch out for! :) Dan |

Lion, as I understand it that was the whole reason to invent the internet. Dispersed networks that would still work when the rest of the country was obliterated. Can't still believe that it was released gratis to the whole world. Of course some countries wish it had not been. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET |

Kropotkin303 Like my uncle said to me a few weeks before he passed, it was the West's final big attempt to create and/or exploit chinks in the armor of the remaining totalitarian regimes. But perhaps we might experience a boomerang effect that puts our networks at risk. Dan |

@Kropotkin303: This forum needs a sarcasm font, since I thought most everyone here knew the history of ARPANet. |
