I would like to include a small group of LOTR Rangers to help the Hobbits in my Dragon Rampant games. Considering they are Dunedain and very experienced they need to stand out. I will use them as a 6 figure unit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

GW rangers are still available I think? Or eBay.

I'm sorry I was referring to classifying them under Dragon Rampant. Scouts seem too vulnerable. Poor writing by me!

Just treat them as a elite archer unit with a reduced model count.

Each model with 2 wounds

When we "re-thought" Rampant game system, we just a asigned a dice to each figure or two dice for an "elite" unit.

So if you had eight guys in a unit (either because it started small or had been reduced), you would roll 8 d6. If an elite unit you would roll 16d6 (so keep elite small).

No need for the fixed sized units of (which make no sense in a medieval setting).

You could also simulate better units by having them roll d8s. But always base the number of die rolled by the current size of the unit. This an adding a rough formation rule really helps the system.
