Any thoughts, I know there is quite a bit to chose from. Looking for something fun, fast and perhaps if the fighter lives, gains experience, ect…

Thoughts?

Though it includes fantastic elements, I like Arena Rex.

WE used to use the rules from Gladiator games. I forget who has them now, but they were a lot of fun. Detailed but no very.

I recommend Two Hour Wargames "Red Sand, Blue Sky : Heroes of the Arena." Looks like a chart-fest but plays fast enough you can do an arena full of fighters (my old group did have some multi-player gladiatorial games).

Has a campaign mode, where you can start at a little arena in the sticks and move up (either as a fighter OR as a Master of a School [think Manager with a pool of fighters]) to eventually fight in the Heart of the Empire.

DO NOT USE Old Glory 'Gladiator Wars'…

The Stronghold Rebuilt has a set called Munera Sine Missione. I haven't played them but in his battle reports they sound fun. They're free, so the price is right.

Some battle reports are on the blog link

Habet Hoc Habet is my go to gladiator rule set of choice.

Fast play and a great campaign system.

You might have to look around for a copy or see if there is a pdf somewhere as the publisher is out of business.
