I had to read that stupid book in high school, hated every page of it.

I didn't have to read that book in high school, did anyway, and loved it. It's still one of my favorite movies. The original movie is very good too, particularly if you like the B-25.

To steal a gig from Johnny Carson:

Q: What does your new rookie shortstop do when you hit him 40 ground balls?

A: Catch 22

Loved the book, even enjoyed a student production of it in the 80s

Sounds as it will be a perfect waste of time, money, and film!

Hollywood and the continual regurgitation of old stories.

Well, he is one, so it would be appropriate.

Another remake; what could possibly go wrong?

Can't beat the opening scene in the origional ! Music to the ears.

Loved the original. Refuse to watch any of Hollyweird's remakes.

I'm sure you'd like it if it had The Rock, Gibson & Roseanne Barr in it.

Now that would be downright weird ! ?

I enjoyed the book and the first movie. My fear on this remake, especially weighing in at 6 episodes, is they will try and make it relevant to today's political situation.

Heller was pretty clear. He based the material on his own experience as a bombardier during WW II. The satirical novel of course skewered the bureaucracy of the military but it was critical not of WW II but rather the Cold War and McCarthyism. The Korean War influenced Heller.

The only reason I can see to remake this one, especially as a limited series, is to use it as a vehicle for current political commentary.
