My latest blog entry covers the release of my new "Dahlgren and Columbiad" quick play ironclad naval rules, along with the ACW and War of the Pacific booklets which support the rules.

You're late! I bought this a whole week ago!

I haven't found any indication in the rules what the ground scale or time scale are. Did you have any values in mind when you wrote them?

Can I use these rules with the information/ship data in 'The Schleswig Holstein Question" supplement for "Broadside and Ram"?

That was my plan as well. I don't think there woulast be any reason why not? Mind you, I have only skim read the new rules.

I'm planning to do a freebie set of data sheets for "Schleswig Holstein" in the next few weeks

I just noticed the Light Damage table has no result for a die roll of 4. Is that on purpose?

I presume that movement distances and ranges are suitable for 1/600 models?

Also, is a hex-mat required or is measurement done in inches/cms?

The second paragraph of the rules clarifies the miniatures scale expectations:

The rules have been written very much with 1/1200 scale models in mind. That said they can be used with 1/600 models simply by doubling movement distances and gun ranges.
No grid is specified or required, all measurement distances are stated in inches.

Thanks. Any comparison against the like of River Wars/Hammerin Iron?

I can't really compare those. I've only played Hammerin' Iron, and that was so long ago I believe I have since replaced every living cell in my body (so, technically, it wasn't me…?).

These rules were just updated on WargameVault today, so I downloaded it. I'd love to know what the changes were. Anything important?

I notice there's still no result "4" in the Light damage table, so that wasn't it.

Hi, trying to connect with David on a D&C rules question – anyone know a good forum for that, or better yet, David, are you available to answer questions here?
