Here is the 2 nd. VA Militia Battalion at Cowpens. This unit was commanded by Major David Campbell and was placed on the main line, along with the Continentals, at Cowpens. Included in this unit were VA Rifleman, VA State Troops and a company of NC Riflemen.

I've included more riflemen figures in this battalion, as their were on the day of the battle.

Kings Mountain figures, painted by the exceptional
Mr. John Bryant. Basing and home made flag by me.

I know that I am biased, but I really love the way all 3 units turned out. Alan Marsh really captured the spirit of the Southern theater with his sculpting. Enough of that. Here are the 2 nd VA Militia Battalion.

Just as superb as the first batch. Thanks for posting. Also like the flag.

Excellent painting. You used quite a number of uniformed figures. Do you want to represent the better quality compared to the other militia units or were uniforms used by this militia? The flag is interesting. It seems to be a snake on red ground. As well I have resumed my own Cowpens project being hindered for one year because of business: Is there any historical source that this flag was used by the 2nd VA Militias?

Please execuse any errors english is not my own language.

I too am interested in the sorce for the flag. BTW the figures and basing are outstanding! Also, I appreciate your introductions that provide some context.

I made the flag from an internet article on VA AWI flags.
I just flip flopped it in Word and printed it.
While searching for the original article I discovered that Flags of War has the same flag attributed to the 1st and
8 th VA.

I've no idea where he got his info from.
In any case don't get hung up on my use of flags. I use them as a means of identifying a unit. Unless there is documented proof of colors being carried by a specific regiment I tend to go with "could be" and what looks good.
In the end, it's a VA flag for a VA unit.

Sam, There are uniformed members of this unit because a company of VA State troops were included. They would have been uniformed.
