Doing research on the 8e hussars I have been able to find almost every commanding officer during the Napoleonic war. During my research I found portraits of 22 officers from the 8e Hussars in 1803 painted my Boos link . The portraits were a gift for Colonel Marulaz and there is a portrait of his brother(killed at battle of Golymin) and his father who was a captain in his regiment. The site shows also Chef d'escadron Becker and Nicolas Thurot who will go in to command the 8e Hussars in 1813-1814. Some things I found interesting in the portraits are the different color colpacks of brown and black fur as well as one of the officers with a shako. I believe the site incorrectly names Colonel Marulaz because the 4th portrait closely resembles Francios Marulaz as well as the father Francios-Claude Marulaz. The richness of the pelisse compared to the named portrait of Colonel Marulaz leads to me to think it is a mix up.

Using this great website for the 8e Hussars also helped shed light on other colonels of the regiment. link

You can find the commanding officers of nearly all of the French regiments of the period, infantry, artillery, and cavalry, on the Napoleon Series.

Bretchtel98,

Portraits of the officers too? or just the great series from this link link I have used this website to search each regiment for Light infantry and cavalry. Some are easy to find and others not so much.
