Hi I would like to start a new Imagi-nations project but need suitable rules. Looking for something simple with figure removal and flexible enough to play an ambush game or multi brigade bash! Something easy like the WRG 1685-1845 but suitable for 24 man battalions would be great.

Howard Whitehouse and I have been playing a game called A Gentleman's War originally for late 19th century it has now expanded into the 18th.

I think it will meet your needs. Here's a link to the Yahoo group. link

The rules are in the files section.

We've used "La Batailles de l'Ancien Regime" (BAR) rules for both skirmish level and big battalion level games. oldregimerules.com

You can see many game reports on link

We have our home rules for the FIW & also one for the AWI. I can send you a copy of each to look over if you like. They are for 40mm figures but would work equally well for 28mm figures too. They are pretty basic and we do remove figures as they are killed. E-mail me and I will send you a set of each that you can use or adopt for your own use. msc1d@aol.com

You might take a look at the free set on the All the King's Men site. Fun set of rules, and free.

Regarding BAR rules, looks like you need a lot of models to start with. What would be the smallest amount of figures required to have a good/fun game in 28mm?

Cheers

Thanks 138 sqdn. I've been wondering about those rules. The download says it has problems atm so I will try again later. Maybe I should buy the book it was in.
