Would the flag look something like this?

A)

C)

D) Or do you have a suggestion of your own, or from some other source?

I'd think it'd feature separated images of each flag, or neither. Or bunting…

With a logo for the colony itself in the middle.

Actually art? Me? Oh, Dan, you so crack me up…

Okay, okay. LOL.

I went ahead an edited D to include something "from some other source".

I would fly both flags side by side. There is absolutely nothing in your mashup to indicate "American".

Well, I've been looking and I was hoping you guys had come across something suitable or something that would inspire the creative juices.

If you have to have a joint flag then stick a white star inside the red circle. Otherwise use the two separate ones.

Hinomaru in the corner, stripes and bars on the rest

I would think both nation's flags would be the choice. Locally, we have a couple of small manufacturers in the area that are joint ventures. They have two equal-sized poles and flags out front for both the US and the other nation's flag. I like that idea because it shows both the nationalist pride as well as shared comradeship. Perhaps a third sign, banner or flag to show the name of the colony itself.

Tokyo will insist on a big red disc to represent the red planet with solar rays emanating from the Sun behind it…..

ZOC : "I like that idea (of separate but joined flags) because it shows both the nationalist pride as well as shared comradeship. Perhaps a third sign, banner or flag to show the name of the colony itself."

That's a great solution!

I could see B) as a post independence flag, assuming Phobos and Deimos are part of it. A) perhaps as a national flag for Mars itself. Perhaps C) can act as a Naval Flag? My only issue is a lack of stars and/or stripes.

This might work.

I'd assume a unique flag for the colony.

Probably a red circle on a black background with two small white dots on an orbit.

I favor the field of Stars and Stripes. The canton ble with a red rising sun in it.
