I enjoyed this article: The Last Jedi: a Leninist uprising against Tyranny! Larry Kummer, Editor Book, Film, & TV Reviews 7 March 2018 Summary: Feminists praise The Last Jedi, seeing a strong woman leading the revolution against "toxic masculinity." But she is the villain, similar to the villains in another classic film about a revolution: Battleship Potemkin. These films both show and are part of a revolution. … The Villains. The commanders in both films are cruel aristocrats who have no respect or empathy for their crews.
… The Heroes. Masculine everyman heroes their respective audiences can empathize with.

Can only take this so far. I don't think a true Leninist would like the fact that the "everyman" hero turns out to be an idiot. |

Whom are you speaking of. Dynaman? *Every* character in that film turned out to be an idiot. |

True true, but a "Leninist uprising" film would not have made the "hero" an idiot. The leaders simply saying "we have a plan but can't say what it is since way may have a spy" would have been the end of all the "drama" |

I am still waiting for an objective standard for how far we're allowed to bend the different elements to make them fit these analogies. But hey, this looks like fun. |

An interesting read. If nothing else it reminds you that the Battleship Potemkin is a far better film than the Last Jedi. Fingers crossed for Solo…… |

How about a "Lannister Uprising"? There's a lot of scope there for tortured analogies. |

> How about a "Lannister Uprising"? Who would Tyrion be? > There's a lot of scope there for tortured analogies. If there is a Lannister than torture is coming into the picture somewhere – or would that be the flayed man guys? |

For myself I liked The Last Jedi and can't understand all the BS that's coming on from people who didn't like it. The only opinion that matters when it comes to a film is my own,I don't give a crap about critics or anyone else when it comes to movies. I have enjoyed ALL of the Star Wars films(YES even the prequels). |

> For myself I liked The Last Jedi and can't understand all the BS that's coming on from people who didn't like it. Good for you. It was still crap and I don't give a crap if you don't agree. |

Captain Gideon, can you see that calling someone else's opinion "BS" is to insult both that opinion and the person offering it? It's fine that you like the film as well as all the others. But when someone else states that they don't, and gives reasons why, they aren't demeaning you or your like of the same. So don't enter a conversation by doing that to them or their opinions. It is that sort of approach that is the real BS. |

Kinda a tortured analogy. I'm just sticking with 'it was a really, really, REALLY, bad movie.' |
Captain Gideon | 04 Apr 2018 7:24 a.m. PST |
Dn Jackson why do you think it was a really, really,REALLY,bad movie? |
