Can I start the conversation again about the "best" US Cavalry in 28mm/"heroic" 28 scale? I have not seen any threads on this since the DMH figures came out. To me the Artizan figures have a bit more of a cartoon look the way that Foundry do. The DMH Cavalry (at least in the picture) seem to be a bit more wooden than some of the other DMH figures. I'd love to hear some thoughts on the subject.
Thanks,
Matt

If you don't mind the size being a bit smaller, the Foundry 7th Cavalry are by far the best sculpts out there. I don't think they share the cartoon look that Artizan has at all.

If by DMH you mean Dead Man's Hand, you should be aware that while they have figures for a "gang" of cavalry, none of them are mounted. This would seem to make the figures almost useless if your intention is to game the Plains Indian Wars.

I've not seen these figures in person, so I really can't comment on their quality. From images some of the figures seem ok, I'm a bit dubious of the trooper in short sleeves. None of them have the carbine strap. Three of the figures do not appear to be wearing cavalry boots. So in my mind, there is some question about the accuracy of the figures.

I'm just saying that the lack of mounted figures will cause them to be passed over by some gamers such as myself.

If anyone needs any unpainted Foundry US Cavalry I have 2 units of 12 mounted and 2 units of 12 dismounted figures I could sell. $36 USD for each unit of 12 mounted figures and $15 USD for each unit of 12 dismounted figures

Yes, by DMH, I meant Dead Mans Hand. Thanks for the info guys. Rdfraf, I am interested in some of your foundry figures!

POTN had a nice range of 28mm US Cavalry for the Plains Indian Wars but the current owner only lists the Buffalo Soldiers. There were mounted and dismounted figures.
