Torik Broknose sought to plunder the Village of Two Willows at Cold Wars 18 in Lancaster, PA. The fates went against the wily Viking this day. Played with 15mm figures using the draft in-progress rules: So Convenient for Hewing, Essex figures.

Photo 6 Torik & Company at prior to the game
Torik detached his brother, Angmad, and the archers to ambush potential reinforcements. The reinforcing column entered the table with the knights in the lead. They galloped down the road toward the village leaving Sir Ambrose, the warriors and crossbowmen in the dust. The archers opened fire, but their dice were poor, and the horsemen never slowed, continued to the relief of Sir Roger. Sir Roger was in great need of aid. The Vikings had scattered the defending warriors, driven the farmers away, and pushed the Longbowmen to the far side of the orchard. The arrival of Sir Ambrose turned the tide of the defense.

Meanwhile the warriors and crossbowmen pushed the Viking archers, back toward their main body. Torik seeing the day was not to be won, gathered his surviving warriors and withdrew back across the river to their encampment.
Casualties from the battle shown in Photo 8.

The Vikings lost 4 raiders killed, an additional 3 captured; 4 warriors, and 2 archers.
The defenders lost: a sergeant, 5 warriors and 2 farmers.
It was a fun game, without the timely arrival of Sir Ambrose's knights the village would have been lost to the Vikings.
Ponder on,
