Does anyone know if Dave Thomas will be at SALUTE selling metal figures? I do not see a separate entry in the traders' list. Is his team perhaps combining with the Perrys' plastics stand? |

I believe he is not attending Salute this year. Chris |

No Perry metal figures at SALUTE, not even the Perrys are taking them. No great surprise shows are dying anyway. Salute is the last gasp bastion of hope. |

For something that's supposedly dying, Salute seems in very rude health? |

I see Perry's miniatures are there on the traders list ?? Is that Dave Thomas or Perry's themselves ? |
Artilleryman | 18 Mar 2018 9:49 a.m. PST |
In the past that has usually meant the Perrys themselves concentrating on plastics and future projects. Dave Thomas has always had a separate entry in the past. |

Apparently the Perrys have confirmed on Facebook that Dave Thomas, who sells their metals at shows, won't be at Salute. So only plastics at Salute. |

Oh well. That's that then. |

I can see where it would be very difficult to carry even a token of the Perry metal range at a show, it is too vast. Even the Twins themselves are not taking it. Although I do find this approach odd. Dave has simply had enough. |

Maybe he has become frustrated with all the thefts from his stall at various shows? |
Three Armies | 20 Mar 2018 1:23 a.m. PST |
Yeah that theft is never going to help. Shows organised months in advance and taking the money from traders so early is a much bigger drain. And the lack of people actually spending, that probably swayed his decision more! If you speak to him personally he will give you a lot more reasons, most of which should probably not go to print lol |

I find this fascinating, as it is so like what is happening at medical conferences. OK Physicians always attract the reps and sponsors….because they prescribe expensive drugs. But, for surgical meetings, the poor reps are charged increasingly exorbitant rates, travel miles to set up their stands and are then ignored by the punters……who simply cannot afford the expensive kit they are showing. Seeing products in the flesh is the ideal, but I guess folk increasingly trust to what the website shows. That is what makes the surprisingly few comparative studies on-line so useful. I want to see how a Black Hussar miniature fits in with Three Armies, Brigade Games Miniatures, Perry, Foundry etc etc I imagine the cost of running a show in a central London venue must rely on sponsorship ++++, or else admission price goes sky high. |

I hadn't realised he suffered theft to that degree. Shame his thoughts aren't going to print – maybe some would be useful for organisers of shows to hear, so that the future of shows can be debated more openly |

Is Dave giving up on all shows, or just not doing Salute this year? He's listed as a trader for both Hammerhead and Partizan, so hopefully just the London show. Pity this wasn't cross-posted to the UK and Shows/Convention Boards as well. |
