I`m curious dear readers, how the ancients rules that you use handle Hammipoi* in Greek battles? *Hammipoi were usually unarmoured javelinmen trained to support Greek cavalry. |

ToTheStrongest handles them as combined units |

Impetus also handles them as a combined unit. |

In Swordpoint, hamippoi would be handled with the special rule for Escorts, allowing the accompanying formed cavalry unit to charge through the Escorts to reach an enemy unit, or to replace a unit of Escorts engaged in combat with an enemy unit. |

In DBMM, hamippoi are psiloi (light infantry) able to give rear support to cavalry. |

Thanks for your answers… How do they work as combined units in Impetus and To The Strongest? |

I think any rules that combines the effect is doing it right. Agrianians helped the Macedonian Companions in this role. It's tough to represent on the table top since it is an allowed interpenetration. Support rules in Hail Caesar kind of fit as well. |
