From the Indiegogo:

Renegade Scout – Retro miniatures rules
Retro wargaming rules compatible with the British "grim future" rules from 1987

link

It's Ivan so you can likely expect a 3rd version of the rules to be out this year :)

INTERESTING…..

But how will GW react?

If the graphic design and artwork are good, this may become a hit…

However: I think the publisher should take note and remember that the it was the originality and strange combination of grimdark meets Monty-Python that really sold Rogue-Trader, NOT the rules…. Play to the universe not the mechanics (which brings up the GW reaction question, above…)… another 'not 40K' clone with RT rules only really appeals to a small nostalgic fan base (which is fine, but a well-put-together tome that really captures the wacky/cynical/DIY/rich UNIVERSE/feel of RT would be a true masterpiece. Best of luck! I'll probably support this just on principle…

Based on his extremely numerous previous systems…it will probably be a streamlined set of rules that get you the same feel and functionality. Likely less artwork. Very little IP infringement if at all. If it is popular he will likely have a fair amount of support material out for it quickly.

Agreed, I have purchased a couple of his products and my only complaint is the lack of artwork…

Of course the artwork was one of the key factors to RT's success… very evocative (unlike the current GW grimdark parody) and a strange blend of styles both seriously disturbing and sometimes light or even comic (Giger meets Judge Dredd meets Iron Maiden meets Ian Miller meets whatnot and whatever else, along with some fabulous dioramas etc….)
I guess GW won't really care if the setting is 'generified' enough, but if that is the case, how close to RT can it be, and why not use a less clunky rule set…?
I think I will have a look if and when it is publicly available.

Haha. I thought Squadhammer was the retro clone. It looks good. Unfortunately no interest from my locals….
I'd love to bring back the original Warzone…..
