A group of heavily armed soldiers burst into a room filled with terrified hostages, who have no idea what is happening.

"Don't worry," one of the soldiers says. "We're the Chinese Navy, and we're here to take you home."

Hmm. Second time now that they look like great heroes.

First time China ever evacuated citizens of another country was April of 2015 … without a single casualty too!

The locale moves to the fictional country of Yewaire—clearly based on Yemen—and prominently features the Chinese Navy's deployed anti-piracy escort forces. The movie reportedly marks the first official cooperation of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA-N) with a major cinematic production.

What an odd choice…so then the Chinese Navy is moving to rescue hostages in a fictional Yemen from "pirates" (Yemenis) who in RL have been armed and enabled by China's ally Iran???

Cacique Caribe14 Mar 2018 10:26 a.m. PST

Yep. Hence their overwhelming success in 2015.

PS. It's a nice distraction for Xi to use nonetheless, just like Iran and NK.

Like Americans who are saving hostages from Afghans who in RL have been armed and enabled by Americans to fight the Russians? Yep.

But wait – which was the "odd" fictional plot?

Don't care who did the rescue, getting in and out with no dead hostages is always a win. No casualties among the troops is a bonus, raises 'major victory' to 'epic victory'.

I will buy those Sailors a beer if we ever meet. Heck, I'm half tempted to send a letter to the Chinese Embassy in DC asking if there is such a thing as a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Committee in the PLA-Navy, and asking how one would make a contribution to their funds for buying that group of Sailors a beer each.

Guys, did I miss something here…..isn't this a movie?

I would like to buy a beer for that nice Mister Frodo Baggins for whatever he did that got all those nasty orcs to leave.

And I'd like to buy Matthew McConaughey a beer for capturing the enigma machine and winning WW2 for the USA.

Funny, but I just saw this movie last Friday and mentioned it in another thread a couple days ago: TMP link

It's an action-driven war movie made by a Hong Kong director who styled himself after John Woo. I just reviewed it last night along with three other recent movies on my blog: link
