I've been a bit out-of-the-hobby loop lately due to "Real Life" being extra-busy, but I finally got around to posting a long-overdue AAR on a game I played back in early December 2017. The interim was filled with some significant real life events, and I wound up blogging about them as well as the game. Nothing too traumatic, though one of the events was a memorial for my cousin who passed away about a year ago, a great guy dearly missed by many. The most recent real world news was great -- my daughter received an appointment to the USMA at West Point and I'm sure that was due to what she learned pushing lead and throwing dice in anger across the table from me over the years (just kidding!!!). But if you're not interested in any of that personal stuff, you can easily scroll down to where it says "ACTUAL WARGAME AAR STARTS HERE…" in XXL lettering and still enjoy 188 pics of c.1879 Anglo-Indian vs. Afghan wargame goodness. Here's some pics to whet your Victorian Colonial whistle:
Kindly click below if you'd like to see more, and thanks in advance for your time and attention if you do so -- whether or not you jump ahead to the ACTUAL WARGAME AAR! link …and I apologize in advance for what happened to the Gurkhas. |

Ethan, That's an epic post indeed my friend. It took me a few sittings to read it all, and it was worth it. It's always tragic to lose someone, especially when it's well before their time. Your memorial to your cousin is touching. It's great to see that he got so much out of life and brought happiness to so many with his music. The family trip looks like big fun. You're making lifelong memories. That painting is HUGE! Cool, but huge…lol The pics remind me of our trips to the Colonial Barracks cons in NO. How about some Jambalaya with a side of Jambalaya…..? Big congrats on Izzy's acceptance and appointment to West Point!!! Congrats to her friend as well. I know how proud you and Xinhua are of her. Go Army! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your foreign adventure! Great AAR! Your table and figs are simply stunning. Any game you set up always looks amazing. Every time I see your collection in person or online I tell myself I gotta upgrade my hills. Your hills / mountains rock brother (pun intended)! The rules sound interesting. It's fun to try different rules sets and different levels of command. I too am still in love with TSATF with single fig bases but dabble in other things as well. The single fig bases are much more versatile as you can put them on the movement trays like you did then just pull them off for TSATF. Cheers, JB |

Bob and GreenLeader: THANKS for the compliments and good wishes for my daughter! Jeff, thank you very much, my friend! When it comes to wargaming there's something that sounds like a cliche, but like most cliches I find it to be largely true: the most valuable thing I've gotten out of all my years in the hobby is the friendships It's allowed me to make with guys like you and "Rhyngll" Bob, and if GreenLeader and I spent some time around a gaming table I'd probably say the same about him. And no need to ask, as you know I'm always up for some Jambalaya with a side of Jambalaya! Have a Happy Passover my brother, and to all wargamers celebrating Easter, a Happy Easter! |
