I've managed to purchase 5 of the Playmobil pirate ships and 30 of the 54mm Tehnolog pirate figures plus I've got some odds and ends pirate figures Right now I'm modifying some of the figures and have started painting them. I'm also modifying the pirate figures to use as snapphanar for my 54mm Scania War (1675-79) skirmish gaming. Is anyone else here using 54mm pirates for gaming? I'll post a link tp pictures when I get the time. |

Ideal or Marx made some nice ones. I have them painted up to fight my Spanish Main Spaniards. |

I've got several 54mm projects underway including pirates. Finding someone to game with is going to be a challenge for me. I have: The Russian figs Toysmith figs: a.co/5Mjf0Gf These guys (seriously need a wash): a.co/iysBBUy These: a.co/dAzDkTA This bucket: a.co/dii7DLN The Safari Tube: a.co/cXskrvd ..and various knock-offs. Mainly recast Ideal figs by the looks of them. I use AWI figs for government troops. My ships are mainly re-purposed toys too. |

Thanks for the links cloudcaptain. I think some of my odds and ends pirates are Marx. I also have some of the 54mm Tehnolog Cossack figures that I'm puttin' in the Playmobil ships and do some Swedish coastal raids (1719-21) – I've read some articles describing how the Cossacks terrorized the coastal Swedish civilian population during this 3 year period. Years ago I had a friend cast me some cannons out of brass, he worked at a foundry and used the sand casting method, Each cannon barrel is about 2 1/2 inches in length so they're probably 12 pdrs or maybe 18 pdrs. I've scratch built carriages for them. I've used various 1/72 scale cannon barrels for my swivel guns – can't be a pirate without a swivel gun! |

54mm? I think you're going to need a bigger boat. |

I collect Playmobil ships and pirates in 54mm as well. I am still looking for a good set of simple rules. For sea battles I am going to try the old Limeys and Slimeys rules, which I know work with 15mm ships. For land battles I am going to try a friend's home brew rules based on Sid Meier's Pirate Computer Game. The latter are grid based, but can be adapted to non-grid movement. Send me a PM if you're interested in the Sid Meier rules. |

Nick, I'd be interested but don't see how to PM you. I have Limeys and Slimeys, also Broadsides and Boarding Parties, THW Bottle of Rum and one I just printed off today Blood & Bounty by Liam Thomas (DonkusGaming). Also Barnacle Bill: A Pirates Life For Me. Not related to pirates, I also have 3 of the Playmobil Viking long ships. I'm using 54mm Tehnolog Viking figures – they offer two different 5 man sets -- realy nice figures! |

Here's a link to my 54mm Vikings and Playmobil long ship
the ship is still a work in progress, still needs painting, I have a mast and sail for it – not in picture. I took out the original deck and replaced it with planked plastic sheet card. In the process of adding the shields and ship side rack. |

Here's a picture of the cannon setup that I've decided to use for my 54mm pirate ships. The gun carriage is Playmobil item, I've removed the plastic barrel and replaced it with a brass barrel that a friend cast probably 30 years ago. Once I've used them up I'll just cast more in resin. |
