Gosh dang bug! I want to follow thread on both these things.

Wait, this is a feature so I win.

I recall a map on our classroom wall of USSR. Had numbers for installations, air bases and numbers of systems, fighters, interceptors, and detection radar for each front/district. Honestly I think it came out of a Newsweek magazine.

Sherman conversions. This I will watch.

Very nice, Leon! The Sherman I hybrid is an elusive beast, unless you take matters into your own hands!

Had sometime to progress with the hybrids for 33 rd Brigade.

The components

the first cut across the hull, when this done you can measure the length along the hull for the second angled cut.

showing the snall section of 30 thou plastic card to help fitting the front to the new rear hull

the combined new hull

new backplate with cut out.

will add new pics as things progress and put some cutting measurement up when I can.

lol Sherman love ……..ye Gods! Always liked the hybrid so couldnt resist, its my Brit armour contribution to Market Garden game. 33rd were supporting the 101st and they have great yellow turret numbers.

Pics showing the fitting of the hull parts, filling required and adding new applique armour plates and then the welded seams.
Will put all this togther with more details if anyone interested a bit later.
Oh and the slightly roughened look to the 'cheeks' of the cast hull is deliberate, apparently in real life they were decidely rough textured.

The Hybrids always looked a bit rough as if they were thrown together. I think you have captured that feel very well.

Finished hull, turret fitted, coat of primer to check filled areas are ok, turret assembled as per kit instructions.
Last pic is a close up of the added welded seams on the front of a Firefly VC.
Drive sprockets not yet fitted.

Construction finished and a base coat of the PSC British tank colour applied.

and the Firefly Vc for the 44th RTR

Now to get around to painting.

Basic paint job done, dark green over the base coat, feathered in medium tone and then feathered in highlight. Finished off with some 'stipple' dark green.
Colour contrast doesnt show up that well in the pics.
Now to varnish and do the decals and washes.

I've seen your thread about the Sherman hybrid production and I've found it very interesting.

Firstly, excellent work and congratulations for your 20mm Sherman hybrid. The conversion process it's really awesome!!

Secondly, I'd like to know from where did take the metal 30 cal. machine guns? in other words, which brand are they? and which PSC colour reference did you apply as a base coat?

Best regards

privosky,
Ta for the comments glad you enjoyed the process.
Theres another thread hereabouts with pics of the finished ones and a 'how to' pdf.
Its the British tank spray.
The .30 cal is part of design work for a proposed Stuart jalopie conversion kit with crew that Im playing with. Will be part of the 20mm range we do, thats if it happens. Just at the 'playing with' stage at the moment.
