Hi everyone, I've been slowly collecting an New Kingdom Egyptian Army in 1/72 using mostly Caesar Miniatures kits supplemented with Newline Designs. I plan on building a Hittite force to oppose them and was looking for recommendations for figure to use as Mitanni or Syrian vassals. I've seen a lot of the 28mm stuff and it just isn't there in 1/72 or 20mm. Chariots won't be an issue it's more so the infantry. Any suggestions on what to use?

Humm! I made a canaanite army (also intended for being syrians and mitannians) from Caesar and Newline Designs with a bit of scratching. Maybe it helps:

But I'd like Sean from Newline made some of his 28mm ancients ranges into 20mm to add to my armies.

That helps tremendously. I've gone around and seen what others have done as well. What kits from Caesar did you use here? Is that some Sea Peoples mixed in there? Originally I was going to mix the Hebrew and Bedouin kits to make the units but felt something was still missing.

There are Sea Peoples from Caesar. Many of their swords have been cut into long knives, many others have been removed and put a spear or an axe instead. The most of their shields have been changed to scratchbuid ones simulating leather, reed or wicker.

Almost all the rest are Newline Designs, mainly Sea Peoples with hat (convertet into headbands), Sherden guards (the same conversion for hats, inguinal and lower protectios removed…), Nubian archers (not the new ones, a bit of trim in their kilt).

Your conversions have inspired me. Amazing work and hopefully I can emulate what you've done. Newline does have a great range and like you I wish they put some of the 28mm into 20mm. The sculpts are just so well done.
