I am looking for a good source for uniform info on the Spanish prior to the WSS (or at least from the advent of uniforms to the French-influenced changes in the WSS). I really can't find much at all on horse & dragoons.

I have Grant's "From Pike to Shot", but it is very spotty on info before 1700. Can anyone here please give me any leads?

Check this webpage (actually, the mirror site of another one gone away long ago): link
As for headwear, usually a white wide brimmed hat with long red feather.

Baccus have a CD of Spanish uniforms in the Nine Years War. Can't vouch for accuracy, but very nicely illustrated and lots of detail. Cost is around £20.00 GBP

The Robert Hall, et al, CD referred to by steamimgdave, available from Baccus I'm the UK and On Military Matters in the US, is by far the best source in English. Highly recommended.

There is also a Pike and Shot Society volume on the Spanish of that period (which might have the same content as the CD referred to above).

Thanks all, I'd forgotten about the CD. I guess I wasn't willing to pay $30 USD on speculation, so I forgot about it.

That'd be awesome, Phil. I'd MUCH rather have a physical copy. Kids today, with their shiny CD's, and O-pods, and rotary phones!

I can strongly recommend the Robert Hall (et al) book "Spanish Armies in the War of the League of Augsberg 1688-1698". It's very comprehensive, and carefully points out the places where information does, and does not exist. Spanish forces in the Iberian Penninsula are listed, as are Spanish forces in the Spanish Netherlands.

There's also a brief history of the major engagements and campaigns fought by the Spanish army of Carlos II.

It's a very well laid out book, and there's plenty in there for a wargamer to go to town with.
