I am getting enthusiastic about 40mm miniatures but I find there isn't much authority that I can find about basing sizes. Does anyone know what good dimensions are for 40mm skirmish infantry and cavalry on single bases from Ancient to WW2? Also, wouldn't mind hearing what others find to be good, playable (but also aesthetically pleasing) multi-figure basing frontages and depths for 40mm miniatures in ACW, Napoleonic etc. for Infantry, cavalry and artillery. Thank you for any help in advance. |

I have a nice Outpost Conquistador army, and a couple families of Vendel border reivers – the latter of which I am considering selling. I know the Outpost stuff is early century and the Vendel stuff is mid-late…. but can they sorta meet in the middle and with suitable additional figures make some sort of continental antagonists? |

Speaking of bugs, I saw something similar happen in the film "The Fly" :) |

I have a bunch Trident and Front Rank 40mm AWI and I base them on individual 1" fender washers. This works good for me, for skirmish gaming. |

Right, for skirmish gaming. But for tactical games with regiments is there any guiding principal on frontages? I have experimented with Napoleonic Sash and Saber on 50mm square bases which seems a bit packed in but orderly. |
