A look at a recent terrain project and bit of a discussion about hills, enjoy!

Interesting read. Nice looking hills btw. I may make some of these types of hills and see how they work. I don't mind rounded hills but am less thrilled with flat hills with steep sides.

I too have flat tops with bevelled sides for my 25mm games, but the sides can still support a standing element stand
(Think DBA/HOTT).
For my 1/300th micro armour hill the ridge line becomes more important to indicate hull down positions for tanks and concealment for infantry.

Just my 2p worth. Scale affects and modern tactics effects I guess.

Cheers guys, Kropotkin, I also have contoured hills for 6mm scale sci-fi for the reasons you describe, an interesting point I should perhaps add.

I have used foam rubber hills for around 15 years. Never been happy with them. Seeing these is tempting me…

I picked up a Hot Wire Foam Cutter Table recently. I could set the cutting wire at an appropriate angle, and cut white foam to shape, mount it on MDF board, paint, flock, and have decent hills which I would be able to customize for my table. Hmmm. You've got me thinking very seriously about this now. Thanks -- I think. Cheers!
