Any ideas where I can find points based generic army lists for ACW armies for pick-up battles. e.g which rules include them as opposed to scenarios for specific battles. I have the lists for Fire Fury which have 20 or so different corps make-up but are there any others as all I can find is Orbats for specific encounters

The old "Jeb" rules had a points system for playing generic games. I don't recall any others having something like that.

The New Brigade Fire and Fury has a pick up game generation chapter included. Dice roll and tables to generate opposing forces. Works quite well. Not points based though.

What happened (or almost happened) in 1983 that was so dangerous?

I only found this by chance….

ACW, I am only here to thank folk for advice re Missouri Guerilla War

But 1983? Six months in Ann Arbor. Michigan Med C…what a change from central London. Working with wonderful people, in a much friendlier community than I was used to, back home. Korean Airlines 747 shot down.

I drowned in the Rogue River in Oregon…..well, I was pulled out unconscious, I am told. Later, we were pulled back from the Pacific Ocean by the US Coastguard, when the outboard gave out, as we went crab fishing.

New Orleans…yeah….New Orleans in mid summer. TWA were so nice about our bags which were still in NY and we were there with a two year old and the clothes we wearing.

1983 for me was six months in the USA, realising just how hospitable you folk can be to strangers. Please stay that way
