My 54mm Scania War skirmish project is moving right along, I'm in the process of modifying the 54mm Tehnolog "Peter the Great" figures into Danish grenadiers. I have 1 of the 4 that I'm going to modify converted and painted but can't seem to find any information on what the front cap badge looked like. If these figures were 28mm I wouldn't be too worried about it but with 54mm figures I want to paint the correct badge. Does anyone here have information regarding 1670's Danish grenadier cap badges? |

As far as I have been able to find, most grenadiers, prior to the GNW, seem to have worn the same hats as the musketeers |

That's true, however according to the article I have titled "Danish Uniforms, Colours and Standards 1675-1679" by Hasselager, Snorrason, Henriksen and Schorr, December 2000 it states under Grenadiers, "They seem to have worn the normal hat, but they could also have worn a special cap, possibly in the form of a spidshue, which was like a nightcap with a tassel. Caps of this type are known to have been worn be the Kongens Livregiment and Dronningens Livregiment." |
