Guys, I received my first order of King's Mountain Miniatures today – promptly delivered, and I'm very pleased with the figures. I placed a small exploratory order for a half-dozen dismounted dragoons, with a varied assortment of heads (of which the owner, Bill Nevins, sent along a free sampling of additional heads). One thing I have to say, is that these dragoon figures look much better to the Mk. I eyeball than how they appear on the website. The casting are clean, there's good detail to the sculpting, and their postures look natural also. They're very comparable in size to the Perry AWI figs I have, so will blend well on the tabletop. It's always nice to be pleased beyond initial expectations (again, the website photos don't do these figures justice). |

Agreed. The heads are one of the best ideas around. It's great fun to create unique figures using KMM heads and bodies. Even more fun is taking other lines like Perry and Conquest and doing head transplants. |

I was gifted some Highlanders and they are very nice indeed. I also agree better in the flesh than on the site. |

To be honest, the site sucks. It's never worked right and the guy who set it up is out of business. It crashed after 6 months and I lost the ability to post news or add customers pix or things like that. I might jump over to Facebook to do that kind of stuff if the spirit moves me. It's really only a hobby for me and it's pretty much word of mouth as far as advertising. I am glad that you liked the figures and I hope you can make use of the extra heads. Thanks for the post…Bill |

I have been happy with the KMM Highlanders and heads that I purchased from Bill. I need to order more, but am trying to reduce the backlog of unpainted figures before buying more. |

Not everyone is on FB." That may be, but it's free advertising. And what would you suggest I do, since the site is not working and cannot be fixed. It cost me over 1,000 to have the site built and it doesn't work. I'm not pouring any more money into it. As I said, this is just a hobby for me. |

Buy Bill's Continental infantry. Get a bunch of random heads with slouch hats, plumed or not. Paint them red or green. Loyalists. Get a bunch of his backwoods figures. Ditto slouch hats. Or get the plain Scottish bonnet. Highlanders at Moore's Creek Bridge. Get Old Glory Mad Anthony Wayne Kentucky Mounted Rifles. Do head swaps with slouch hat heads. Over Mountain Men. OG heads in this set are pretty crude, so it's a big improvement. Eureka Ragged Continentals? On my Cold Wars shopping list. The whole point is to make your own unique figures and units. I also have Old Glory Jacobite Baggott's hussars. I need to get more bonnets. Obviously this approach would be pointless if you're doing Potsdam Grenadiers or Old Guard. But it's perfect for odd AWI units. |

The KMM figures are very nice, and match up well with other manufacturers. theminiaturespage.com

Great responses and terrific ideas Winston! Love the painted Draqoons DB, and an excellent photo-rank of comparisons. |

I know that John is working on some great conversions, including a mounted Cadwalader with proper Associator headgear. He's also doing a full unit of Continentals with Associator heads which is going to be cool. It's been fun sharing conversion ideas between us. |
