Great idea! I did something similar to use with "Lion Rampant" using spare swords, shields, axes, etc. Jim |

Nice idea, very nicely executed. And, if I may say so, they are also adorable. - Ix |

Been doing this for 30+ years! I HATE die placed around & other crap that takes away from my War Gaming buzz! Especially figures tipped over on their side, downright unthinkable! I spend way too much time painting & making terrain to have it ruined by junk placed all over the table. Welcome to the "still buzzed" crowd! |

Yes but is it not fiddle to then have to move some 5-12 of these when you must move the unit ( # depending on the rules). Then if there is a division of 8-12 units oh my! ,8-O |

Thanks all! Marshal Greg having used a similar system before in several game systems, not so much in my experience. It's 0-5 counters per unit max if the backpacks count as 4 hits (in General d'Armee where standard units have 12 hits). Also 4 hits and 8 hits are points at which a unit suffers cumulative degrading effects on firepower/melee/morale – so having distinct 4 hit counters is a useful reminder that this has occurred, i.e. 1 Backpack = -1; 2 Backpacks = -2. Without some 4 hit markers it would be quite annoying though, and difficult to keep track of how many hits a unit had actually taken too! Other systems like Black Powder you need 0-3 counters per unit which also works ok. |

A brilliant idea – and like good ideas, so simple! I use saving throws (survivors 'stunned' and inactive till this situation ends) – and have been drowning in mini-dice. Really great. Why base them though? |
