Folks,

Could anyone recommend a range of 25mm miniatures which have a 'cartoony' feel? I'm looking to put together a simple co-operative dungeon crawler for me and my kids so I'd be looking to get the 'stock' characters – a knight, a thief, a magic user, etc, plus some 'stock' foes – goblins, skeletons, a small dragon, etc.

I'd like the cartoony feel so it's more of a game than a wargame, if that makes sense.

this range would be ideal, but there aren't enough different characters:

Oh, and a few female characters in sensible attire would be good!

Many thanks,

Nick

if you could find them the Finious Fingers boxed set was hilarious , Wizard was carry a machine gun with s bzzooka on his back the rangers quiver was upside down with arrows spilling out etc. Based on the very funny cartoon from the TSR era Dragon magazine

Reaper does Chibi in bones IIRC. Dark Sword has a whole range of Anthropmorphic charaters. As does Reaper…their Hedgehog is superb! :-)

If you want to go up to 40-54mm plastics, check out the mythical legends, and the pirates and skeletons toy buckets from Toys R Us and Amazon.

Cheers guys, that's really helpful. As my daughter is very in to her manga art these look like just the sort of thing.

Thanks,

Nick

Impact Miniatures and Soda Pop Miniatures Super Dungeon Explorer have chibi style characters and monsters that are compatible in size with each other.

Impact even had the Chibi versions of the DnD Cartoon characters

Came to suggest Impact's chibi range. I don't have any of those but have bought lots of other things from Impact and always pleased with them.

Three dimensional stick figures perhaps?

(Order of the Stick specific characters though)

Umm those Stickfigures are ridiculously overpriced.

Myth boardgame. Might be hard to find, unless you look on BGG for those selling their pledge or trying to get out of the game.

Hey Nick,
This thread is 3 years old, but I'm also now on the hunt for cartoony D&D figures.

What did you end up doing? And do you have pics?

Sensible attire?

In the first episode of the unit, Jonas went through a plane taking out terrorists with a pistol in jeans and a t-shirt. According to the special features, this was appropriate attire, as the idea is not to get shot. Armour is cumbersome, heavy. I know first hand.

Also watch any volly ball, running, so on.

Running around dungeons, jumping, ducking, going through rivers, needing to show magic tattoos, so on.

What attire is not sensible? Other than being covered up in clothes and armour.

Just to clarify. In reality (let me know if I'm wrong) but particularly in fantasy, heros/characters have usually survived many battles. Lesser troops wear armour so a hit won't hurt. Heros avoid being hit, they are so skilled. Hence armour and excess clothing becomes unnecessary and even a hindrance. Most armoured soldiers would be in ranks anyway,or, like Ned, they become a target. So on.
