Just finished painting the 1/1ere Grenadiers a Pied de la Garde to boost my reserves.
Took me a while to sculpt the chords on General Christiani's chest.

Enjoy

Great photo and amazing brushwork – just the sort of lads to give those Russkies and Austrians a really bad day!

How long did it take you to paint the figures? These may just be the best painted figures at any scale I have ever seen. Just incredible skill and talent.
Thanks for sharing.

I couldn't really tell you, as some days I can dedicate 1-2 hrs to painting, other days half an hour, others nothing…
But, making a rough estimate, I think this unit, 44 figures, took me about two months to complete.

Forgive a dumb question but I do not recognise the wonderful figures. Who is the manufacturer?

Kellerman01 Mar 2018 10:56 a.m. PST

Foundry

Wow. I thought Foundry were totally dismissed in these days of scale creep, when 28mm actually is nearer 30mm. I have never, ever, handled a Foundry figure

These are simply wonderful miniatures, then beautifully painted

As a matter of fact, they are slightly smaller than, say, Perry or Front Rank, but the superb sculpt compensates. Besides, Perry's range, my favourite, does not have grenadiers in full dress.

Great work, and very inspiring. What size are the bases?

rob polymathsw05 Mar 2018 9:41 a.m. PST

Amazing work, I love the colours!

Kellerman05 Mar 2018 2:02 p.m. PST

Scratchbuilt of balsa wood, 1x5 cms.

Snowcat05 Mar 2018 3:42 p.m. PST

1x5 cms? OK, so I'm guessing that's for the command base with 3 figures on it. That makes the figures 25mm to the eye, and the longer bases 8 cm long. Is that correct? Otherwise the figures are only 15mm to the eye, and I wasn't aware Foundry made 15s. :)

Kellerman06 Mar 2018 2:43 a.m. PST

They are 28mm. Five figures to a base. Correct, 1x5 is for the command base.

Snowcat06 Mar 2018 4:52 a.m. PST

Thanks. :)
