I did once have a necromancer roll a critical failure on his attempt to raise an undead army. After I rolled (for dramatic effect – all criticals invented without charts, but the players need not know that), I told him it flipped to a critical success. After his army raised, the ground trembled, and another, deeper buried army raised. The another. Then the ground shook and a skeletal dragon rose. Of course, the necromancer didn't speak the ancient dragon tongue (or that of the other race), so he couldn't control it …

Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
