So, I was super excited to start cleaning and painting my first 15/18 mm units of Union troops firing with backpacks, etc. However, I am really disappointed with the molds. So much flash, and in some cases, the flash is so thick I cannot remove it all.

The pix on Blue Moon's website really inspired me to buy…

Bummer. Anyone else have similar experience?

Be sure to contact the manufacturer – they may be willing to replace them. May be bad molds may just be bad casting….

It's been over a year since I painted up a bunch of Blue Moon ACW but I don't recall having to deal with much flash at all really. EC could be right, maybe a bad batch. For sure send a note to see what they say.

I have several bags of Confederates which I am very disappointed with for the same reason. The quality definitely has changed. I personally would not recommend them to anyone anymore

How odd. That you would complain on here to people who can do absolutely nothing about your problem and have not bothered to contact the manufacturer???
You also must have some knowledge of molds to make the assumption that it is the molds??
This is one of our best selling lines and we have had no complaints that I am aware of?
Why not just simply return these horrible packs?

Russ,

I don't think that I made any statements about the molds. I bought these packs from a hobby store in Wisconsin and I live in Minnesota so it's not super easy to return them. I am not a manufacturer, so you are right, even though I didn't raise the issue of the molds, I would have no standing to object or complain about them.

Before I complain about a product, I typically would like to know if my expectations were reasonable and that I am not being a difficult customer. So, I came to my favorite forum to see if others shared my problem. If no one else has or had similar complaints, perhaps it was simply a bad bag that I got.

From the pictures on your website, the Blue Gray line should be one of your best selling lines. Those pictures are what inspired me to buy your products.

So, since you have answered, am I to communicate with you?

Let me know or I am happy to take this offline and you can PM me.

Thank you.

You stated right in your initial post " disappointed with the molds..?"
Simply call Old Glory and the situation will be remedied.
I do not think anyone would have "expectations" that figures would be covered with as much flash as you describe -- so much flash that it seems it would have been noticed since you viewed the pack before your purchase?

Simply return the pack.

Well, I'll be damned. I meant to say "mold lines" not molds. I must not have been really awake yet.

I did not see the packs – I ordered online. So I really couldn't examine before I bought.

I will call Old Glory though. No worries.

Thanks.

Wow, way to attack you customers Old Glory!

It's all good Jowady. Thank you for the support. However, I should have read my post more closely before I posted. That said, I stand by what I said and will simply reach out to OG and see if they will send me out a new pack or two. If not, no big deal.

Blaming the customer is not going to help your cause. Try "I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with our product. Contact me and I will send replacements right away."

If you read Russ's statement, he asked why the individual didn't first contact the manufacturer, reguardless of where it was purchased.
Too often we turn to social media first before dealing with the issue directly. Plus, it would be nice to see what he means by excessive flash. There are times when a customer can not be pleased. Years ago, when I imported as well as cast lines for UK companies, I had a customer who would only accept UK casting. I showed him two casting, stating that one was a casting I did and the other a UK. They were both UK castings, but he considered the one I said I did as an inferior casting. What I am saying is no manufacturer can attempt fix a problem unless they can see what it is that is creating the problem.

MIniatureships,

I am not on social media. I don't consider this forum to be like Facebook. I was merely checking with others here to confirm whether I was being too picky or not.

When I say "excessive flash" I mean so much thick flash between the molded legs of figures that I cannot cut it out with an exacto knife and sprue cutter. Faces obscured by chunks of flash under the visor of the kepi. That kind of flash. I wish I had the time and energy to take multiple angled photos and send. I don't.

I was not trying to throw anyone under the bus. I was merely seeking confirmation or rebuttal from peers on the forum. In lieu of being defensive, a manufacturer could be bending over backwards to make sure customers are happy. Usually that leads to additional future sales.

Once I learned the manufacturer was a member of this forum, I offered to take the conversation off line and address through private messaging. Apparently, my offer to communicate privately was rejected.

ccmatty, I can tell you that it is better to call and talk with Russ. He is a bit old school other than posting from time to time. I know I have messaged him here or on FB and he doesn't see them right away or it doesn't let him reply like the FB chat app. They are good folks at Old Glory and they will help you out with the Blue Moon figure situation. I guarantee they will make it right.
